Travis Longboat scored three times to lead the Six Nations Chiefs to an 8-5 win over the Peterborough Lakers Sunday at the ILA.
With the win, the Chiefs take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven MSL final series.
The Lakers got off to the start they were hoping for on the road when Rob Hellyer opened the scoring. After Lyle Thompson replied, Joe Resetarits and Carter Page gave the Lakers another lead. Longboat scored his first goal of the game late in the frame.
Longboat, Thompson and Shayne Jackson got the Chiefs on a run in the second period, before Hellyer struck again for the Lakers. Eli McLaughlin capped the second-period scoring.
Hellyer netted his third goal of the game to get the Lakers back within striking distance early in the third period, before Longboat scored his third of the game and Nonkon Thompson netted his first goal of the final.
Doug Jamieson got the win between the pipes for the Chiefs, while Landon Kells was tagged with the loss.
