Lakers get two doses of Smiths in Chiefs Game 1 win

The Six Nations Chiefs administered two doses of Smiths in its 11-5 win over the Peterborough Lakers in Game 1 of the Major Series Lacrosse final Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

Ryan Smith scored three goals and three assists, while Dhane Smith netted a pair and added three helpers to lead the way.

Both Ryan and Dhane Smith scored two goals in the first period, while Ian MacKay and Randy Staats added singles for the Chiefs. Thomas Hogggarth and Rob Hellyer responded for the visitors.

 The Chiefs continued to roll along in the second period.  This time it was Josh Byrne leading the way with a pair of goals, while Ryan Smith added one.

In the third period, the Lakers made a push, thanks to Ryan Lanchbury, Hellyer and  Hoggarth. But Lyle Thompson and Cloutier added some insurance, to help the Chiefs strike first blood in the best-of-seven MSL final.

Game 2 of the series is in Peterborough on Thursday at 8pm.
