Chiefs come from behind to take Game 2 of semifinal

Austin Staats scored his second goal of the night with 1:39 left in regulation to lift the Six Nations chiefs to a 10-8 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks Wednesday in Port Hope.

The Chiefs victory gives them a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven MSL semifinal series.

The Kodiaks came out flying in the first period, with Brock Haley scoring a pair of goals, while Gareth Haigh and Stone Jacobs added one each. Travis Longboat and Cody Jamieson replied for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs rebounded back after a tough opening stanza with two goals from Lyle Thompson, while Austin Staats, Eli McLaughlin and Justin Martin added singles.

Haley opened the third-period scoring before the Chiefs mounted the comeback. Shayne Jackson tied things up 10 minutes into the period before Staats scored the winner. Bryan Cole added some late insurance.

Warren Hill made 51 saves to earn the win. Steve Orleman stopped 52 shots for the Kodiaks.
