Lakers capture MSL title in 6 games

The Peterborough Lakers will get a shot at defending its Mann Cup title.
Cory Vitarelli scored four times, while Shawn Evans scored one goal and added six assists to lead the Lakers to a 14-6 win over the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs.
Holden Cattoni, Kiel Matisz, Joe Resetarits each scored two goals, while Mark Matthews, Jake Withers and Josh Currier netted one each.
Lyle Thompson scored two goals for the Chiefs, while Shayne Jackson, Cody Jamieson, Dhane Smith and Ian Mackay added one goal each.
With the win, the Lakers win the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse championship 4-2. They now take on the Western Lacrosse Association champion Victoria Shamrocks for teh Mann Cup. Game 1 of that best-of-seven series begins September 6 in Victoria, BC.
