Chiefs Stay Hot, Roll Past North Stars in Meaford
MEAFORD — The Six Nations Chiefs flexed their offensive firepower once again Friday night, earning a 14-5 win over the Owen Sound North Stars in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Meaford-St. Vincent Community Centre.
The league-leading Chiefs (10-1-0) used a steady attack to pull away from the North Stars (4-7-0), outscoring their hosts 5-2 in the second period and 7-2 in the final frame.
Shayne Jackson led the way with a hat trick and an assist, while Randy Staats had two goals and two helpers. Lyle Thompson continued his outstanding season withtwo goals and four assists, and Ryan Smith netted a pair for the Chiefs.
The North Stars stayed within reach early, thanks to first-period tallies from Liam McGrath and a second-period goal by Colton Padgett. Jackson Webster paced the North Stars with one goal and four assists in the loss.
Doug Jamieson earned the win.
Next up for the Chiefs is hte Oakville Rock, who visit the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Tuesday at 8pm.
