Great Dhane scores five in semifinal opening win over North Stars



 Dhane Smith picked a great time to have himself a game.

The all-world star scored five goals and added three assists to lead the Six Nations Chiefs to a 11-6 win over the Owen Sound North Stars Tuesday in Game 1 of the best-of-seven MSL semifinal.

 Dhane Smith scored twice in the first period during a six-goal barrage. Shayne Jackson added a pair of goals, while Josh Byrne and Ryan Smith pitched in with one each.

 The North Stars rebounded back in the second period. Isiah Moran-Weekes led the way with a pair of goals, while Tanner Buck, Brayden Mayea and Xander Derkatz pitched in with singles.

Dhane Smith responded with three more goals, and Larson Sundown added one.

 The two teams settled in during the second period, with Noah Milsap and Justin Martin exchanging goals.

Warren Hill earned the win making 46 stops, while Andrew Kidd  had a 65-stop effort.

The two teams resume the best-of-seven semifinal Tuesday in Meaford at 8pm.
