For a second straight game the Victoria Shamrocks have taken the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs beyond regulation, which seems to be what they need to defeat the defending Mann Cup champions.
Scott Ranger's goal midway through the 10-minute overtime period lifted the Shamrocks to a 12-11 win Monday night at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
With the win, the Shamrocks take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Mann Cup championship series.

After Stephen Keogh and Corey Small exchanged first period goals, the Chiefs looked as though they were on their way to a victory. Despite Chris Wardle's marker early in the frame, Jeff Shattler scored three times, while Cody Jamieson and Johnny Powless added singles during a five minute goal explosion. Jamieson and Keogh also added second period markers, while Rhys Duch responded with a pair.
Tyler Hass and Karsen Leung netted one each.
In the third period, Small and Dhane Smith tied things up for the Shamrocks. But the Chiefs came roaring back thanks to Jamieson and Colin Doyle.
The Shamrocks again showed they wouldn't go away, with Smith and Small scoring again, before Keogh and Duch scored to put the game into overtime.
Matt Flindell earned his second-straight Mann Cup win stopping 36 Chiefs shots, while Brandon Miller was forced to make 31 saves.
Game 4 of the series is 8 p.m. Tuesday at the ILA.
