Mann Cup press conference Thursday afternoon
The Mann Cup organizing committee is hosting a press conference Thursday at 2pm, at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Members of the media are invited to attend the press conference, where members of the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs and Victoria Shamrocks will be made available.
The press conference is in anticipation of the opening of the best-of-seven Mann Cup series to determine Canada's top senior A lacrosse team. Last season in Victoria, BC, the Chiefs defeated the Shamrocks in six games.
This year's series will again be a tough one, featuring many of the best lacrosse players on the planet, who star on National Lacrosse League teams in the winter.
There are also an endless amount of storylines, which includes:
• Chiefs gunning for second-straight Mann Cup
• This is the first time the Mann Cup will be hosted on Nations territory
• Six Nations dominance of lacrosse this summer, with the junior B Rebels, junior A Arrows, senior B Rivermen, and Chiefs all winning Ontario titles. On the big stage, the Rebels, and Arrows captured national titles, while the Rivermen earned silver medals.
• former Chiefs forward Rhys Duch returns to the ILA, this time as a member of the Shamrocks
• Chiefs forward Jeff Shattler will take on the team he played for last year
