Nine point night from Dhane paces Chiefs over Lakers in Game 1
Dhane Smith was at it again in Game 1 of the Major Series Lacrosse final Sunday.
The Great Dhane scored six goals and three assists to pace the Six Nations Chiefs to a 11-6 win over the Peterborough Lakers at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
After Braedon Saris and Joe Resetarits gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead, the Chiefs bounced back thanks the Smith who scored four times, while Shayne Jackson added one. Saris and JAke Withers also added goals for the Lakers.
Ryan Smith, Dhane Smith, and a pair from Jackson paced the second period for the Chiefs, while Taite Cattoni had the lone Laker response.
The Chiefs continued to roll in the third period, with Josh Byrne and Dhane Smith getting the Chiefs on the board, before Taite Cattoni responded. Dhane and Withers exchanged goals late in the frame to round out the scoring.
Warren Hill made 49 stops to preserve the win, while Nock Rose was chased from the game in favour of Drew Hutchison.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven MSL final is set for Tuesday at the Peterborough Memorial Centre at 8pm.
