Balanced attack leads to Game 2 victory in the Boro
A balanced attack, and the steady back end, led by Doug Jamieson in the pipes paced the Six Nations Chiefs to a 11-7 road win over the Peterborough Lakers Tuesday in Game 2 of the Major Series Lacrosse final.
With the win, the defending champion Chiefs own a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven provincial final.
Tyson Bell got things rolling with a short-handed marker, before Brad McCulley responded. Dhane Smith and Lyle Thompson got the Chiefs out in front once again, with Mike Robinson cutting the lead for the Lakers with one second to go in the first period.
Dhane Smith scored his second goal of the game just under three minutes into the second period. After Braedon Saris replied for the Lakers, the Chiefs went on a four-goal run that would seal the Lakers fate. Ian MacKay bookended the barrage, while Ryan Smith scored two in a row a minute apart, both on the powerplay. McCulley and Shayne Jackson exchanged goals to close out the period.
The two rivals settled induring the third period, with Kason Tarbell and Brendan Bomberry adding some insurance, while Saris, Holden Cattoni and Thomas Hoggarth scored for the home side Lakers.
Jamieson was rock solid between teh pipes making 52 stops, while Drew Hutchison made 51 saves in a losing effort.
Game 3 of hte series is Thursday at the ILA. Game time is 8pm.
