Chiefs take 3-0 stranglehold of semifinal with 14-7 win over North Stars
Dhane Smith quietly went about business Thursday, scoring two goals and six assists to lead the Six Nations Chiefs to a 14-7 win over the Owen Sound North Stars Thursday.
With the win, the defending Mann Cup champions hold a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse semifinal series.Jackson Webster scored three goals in the first period to give the North Stars a great start. Mitch Gustavsen also added a goal. Shayne Jackson responded two times for the Chiefs in the opening frame, while Ryan Smith and Steve Priolo added one each.
Shayne Jackson continued to have the hot stick in the second period, while Lyle Thompson scored a pair. Randy Staats and Cody Jamieson added to the Chiefs lead. Xander Derkatz and Brayden Mayea replied for the North Stars.
The Chiefs offence kept rolling in the third period, with Ryan Smith, Priolo, Lyle Thompson and Dhane Smith adding to the lead. Greg Elijah-Brown scored late for the North Stars.
With the victory, teh Chiefs can clinch the series Saturday, when Game 4 takes place at the Meaford-St. Vincent Community Centre at 3pm.
