Staats helps Chiefs get back on track

After suffering its first loss of the Major Series Lacrosse season last week, Randy Staats wanted to make sure the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs would get back on track.
Staats scored the natural hat trick before the game was seven-minutes old, and added another in the third period as the Chiefs defeated the Coburg Kodiaks 11-8 on the road Sunday night.
Kyler Kilgour made his Chiefs debut in grand fashion. The former St. Catharines Athletic scored two goals and added three assists, while Jordan Durston scored once with five helpers, and Cody Jamieson scored one and had four assists.
Leland Powless added a pair of goals, while Lyle Thompson, Gates Abrams, and Marty Hill netted one each.
Doug Jamieson got the call between the pipes and earned his second win of the season.
The Chiefs spread out offence was a relief for the coaching staff, especially after its 12-8 loss on home turf Tuesday, to the Peterborough Lakers.
Thompson, Staats and Kyle Jackson each had two goals in the loss, while Jamieson, and Karsen Tarbell added one each.
Holden Cattoni led the Lakers with a four-goal performance, while Joe Resetarits, Cory Vitarelli, and Shawn Evans all scored twice. Turner Evans and Corey Small rounded out the scoring with one each.
Sunday's victory moves the Chiefs record to 3-1, p
utting them in a tie with the Kodiaks for second place, while the first-place Lakers are hte only undefeated team at 4-0.
Tuesday, the Chiefs host the Brampton Excelsiors at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8pm.
