Chiefs get back to .500 with win over Redmen

Don't look now, but the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs have heated up.
Powered by hat tricks from Cody Jamieson and Dhane Smith, the Chiefs sweep the home-and-home set with the Brooklin Redmen with an 8-5 win over the Brooklin Redmen Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
After Dan Lintner and Mark Matthews got the Redmen out to an early lead, the Chiefs roared back with a Jamieson power-play marker, a pair of goals from Smith and one more by Randy Staats.
Lintner again struck early in the second period, before Staats netted his second of the game. Curtis Knight rounded out the scoring in the second period to make it a one-goal game heading into the final stanza.
Knight scored his second goal of the game to tie things up, before the Chiefs went on a run, thanks to a pair from Jamieson and one from Smith to take and hold the lead.
Angus Goodleaf made 44 saves to earn another victory between the Chiefs pipes while his teammates fired 54 shots Zach Higgins' way.
With the win, the Chiefs have now won three-straight games to improve to 4-4, putting them in third place in the Major Series Lacrosse standings. three points behind the Oakville Rock and four behind the Peterborough Lakers.
Thursday the Chiefs are back on the road, when they take on the Brampton Excelsiors at 8pm.
