Third period becomes Chiefs friend in win over Kodiaks
The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs looked at the third period straight in the face Tuesday night and conquered what has been a problem for the Major Series Lacrosse team.
The Chiefs scored five unanswered goals to beat the Coburg Kodiaks 13-11 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Down a goal thanks to a late Luke Laszkiewicz marker in the second period, while Brandon Robinson and chris Cloutier added to the lead early in the third, Dhane Smith led the cmeback, scoring a pair of goals down the stretch. Jordan Durston, Quinn Powless, and Randy Staats also scored to give the Chiefs its first victory since the first game of the s
eason.
Smith was the offensive catalyst for the Chiefs, scoring four goals and four assists, while Durston netted a hat trick and two assists and Staats had a goal and five helpers. Powless also had a hat trick, while Eric Fannell and Kyle Jackson pitched in with a goal each.
Cloutier, Brandon Robinson and Laszkiewicz led the young Kodiaks with three goals each, while Darryl Robertson and Steph Charbonneau added a goal apiece.
With the victory, the Chiefs vault ahead of the Kodiaks and Brampton Excelsiors in the MSL standings with a 2-4 record. Wednesday, the Chiefs are back in action, as they take on the Brooklin Redmen, on the road at 8pm.
