Chiefs comeback falls short as MSL final is now tied 2-2

 

The comeback was too little too late for the Six Nations Chiefs Tuesday at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

 Despite a six-goal effort in the third period, the Chiefs dropped a 12-8 decision to the Peterborough Lakers to even the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse final at 2-2.

It was all Lakers in the first period. Taite Cattoni led the way with two goals, while Justin Sykes, Thomas Hoggarth, Ryan Lanchbury and Brad McCulley netted singles.

 The Laker scontinued to roll in the second period thanks to Braedon Saris, and two more from Taite Cattoni. Lyle Thompson put an end to the run, before Matt Gilray, Dawson Theede and Saris exchanged goals.

Down, but not out, the Chiefs showed the heart of a champion, climbing back. Andrew Kew and Ryan Smith each scored scored twice, while Dhane Smith, and Theede added one each. Gilray scored the insurance marker late in the game.

Each team scored four power-play goals. Nick Rose earned the win between the pipes making 56 stops. Warren Hill and Doug Jamieson shared the goaltending duties.

 Game 5 of the series is Thursday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8pm.
