Balanced attack puts Chiefs in driver's seat

 

A balanced attack on the road led to a 11-9 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks Thursday night in Port Hope/

With the win, the Chiefs hold a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five Major Series Lacrosse semifinal series.

 Lyle Thompson, Dhane Smith, Tim Edwards and Shayne Jackson scored within the first 10 minutes of the game. Aaron Woods had the lone Kodiaks response.

The Kodiaks mounted a run of their own in the second period. Woods scored three more times, while Brock Haley netted two in a row, before Shane Haliwell scored to make things interesting. Chris Cloutier, Andrew Kew, Jackson, Ian MacKay and Brad Kri scored for teh Chiefs.

 After Tyson Bell scored early in the third period, Halliwell and Taylor Dooley responded for the Kodiaks, making it a one-goal game, before Kason Tarbell scored the insurance marker with the net empty.

Doug Jamieson made 30 saves to pick up the win, while Laine Hruska kept his team in it with a 52 stop performance.

Game 3 of the series is set for Saturday at the ILA at 7pm.
