Lyle with the hat trick to lead Chiefs over Lakers

It was Lyle Thompson's turn to shine Tuesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

Thompson scored three goals and added a helper to lift the now 11-0 Chiefs to a 10-5 victory over the Peterborough Lakers.

After Andrew Kew and Ryan Smith scored to give the Chiefs an early lead, the Lakers fought back with a pair of their own thanks to Nick Crowley and Matt Gilray.

Thompson netted the first of two in the second period, before Mike Robinson and Liam Vollans responded to take their first lead of the game. Unfortunately for the visitors, that only lasted just over a minute because Dhane Smith, Thompson and Chris Cloutier opened things up for the Chiefs.

In the third period, the Chiefs continued to pour it on. Brendan Bomberry, Dhane Smith, and Thompson scored before Ryan Lanchbury responded. About a minute and a half later, Ryan Smith netted his second goal of the game to round out the scoring.

Warren Hill was solid between the pipes in the win, while Drew Hutchison faced a lot of rubber in a losing effort.

The Chiefs return to action Thursday when they hit the road to take on the Brampton Excelsiors.
