McLaughlin and Staats lead Chiefs to victory over Kodiaks

Eli McLaughlin and Austin Staats each scored three goals to lead the Six Nations Chiefs to a 12-6 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks Tuesday in Major Series Lacrosse action.

The Chiefs started strong, with  McLaughlin scoring his first of two goals of the period. Aaron Woods quickly responded for the Kodiaks, before the Chiefs went on their first big run of the game. Travis Longboat scored twice, while Randy Staats, McLaughlin and Brendan Bomberry rounded out the first period scoring.

The second period saw the Kodiaks fight back, with David Anderson getting things started. After Austin Staats and Justin Martin responded the Kodiaks went on a run of their own, with two goals from tBraedon Saris and singles from Zach Thompson  and Tyler Hendryks.

Despite this surge, the Chiefs maintained their dominance. Austin Staats scored two more, with McLaughlin closing out the period.

In the the third period, the goalies shone, with Lyle Thompson scoring the lone goal of the period.
