Lakers sink Chiefs in Game 7

The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs won't get a chance to hold up the Mann Cup for a third-straight season.
The Lakers spoiled the party on Monday as Turner Evans scored the winning goal with 12:03 left in regulation time to give his team a 6-5 win in Game 7 of the Major Series Lacrosse final over the Chiefs in front of a packed house at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

With the Chiefs leading by one after 40 minutes, Shawn Evans tied things up two minutes into the third period, setting up his cousin's heroics.
In the first period, things looked good early for the Chiefs, with Craig Point and Ryan Benesch scoring goals. But Mark Steenhuis struck twice, and Brad Self added one each.
In the second period, Benesch, Dhane Smith and Point gave the Chiefs another lead, before Chad Tutton inched the Lakers within a goal.
Matt Vinc earned the win in net for the Lakers, turning asided 40 Chiefs shots, while Brandon Miller is tagged with the loss despite another strong 35-save game.
With the win, the Lakers capture the MSL championship, and will now challenge the Western Lacrosse Association champion Victoria Shamrocks for the Mann Cup, which begins this week in British Columbia.
