Lakers take a 2-1 series lead


 

Mark Matthews scored twice and Joe Resetarits added one goal and six assists to lead the Peterborough Lakers to a 11-7 win over the Six Nations Chiefs at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Sunday.
The Lakers now have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse final.
The two rivals went blow for blow in the first period. Cody Jamieson, Vaughn Harris, Brendan Bomberry and Austin Staats scored for the Chiefs. The Lakers countered with Mark Matthews netting a pair, with singles to Holden Cattoni and Resetarits.
The Lakers took the lead in the second period thanks to Thomas Hoggarth, Turner Evans and Shawn Evans. Jamieson and Dalton Sulver responded for the Chiefs.
In the third period, the Lakers continued to press with Cory Vitarelli, Shawn Evans, Matt Gilray and Kiel Matisz adding insurance. Harris provided the Chiefs with his second of the night.

NOTES: Doug Buchan got the win making 34 stops for the Lakers. Doug Jamieson made 33 stops for the Chiefs. Game 4 of the series is Tuesday at 8pm in Peterborough. That game will be broadcast on the MSL YouTube page, YourTV Peterborough and RogersTV 20.
