Fannell nets three to lead Chiefs to 3-0 stranglehold
It was Eric Fannell’s turn to take the offensive reigns for the Six Nations Chiefs Sunday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Fannell scored the hat trick and added three assists to lead the Chiefs to a 11-8 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks.
The Chiefs now lead the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse semifinal 3-0.
Fannell led the first period scoring twice for the Chiefs, while Cody Jamieson and Joey Cupido added singles.
Aaron Woods and Kealan Pilon responded for the Kodiaks.
Pilon and Alex Simmons then tied things up to start the second period, before Dalton Sulver added one and Vaughn Harris netted a pair.
Gareth Haigh scored the other Kodiaks goal.
Woods, Riley Curtis and Simmons scored to make things interesting for the visitors. But goals from Sulver, Austin Staats, Fannell and Cupido put the game out of reach.
NOTES: Doug Jamieson made 33 saves for the in, while Kevin Orleman stopped 40 for the Kodiaks. Game 4 of the series is Wednesday night in Baltimore at 8pm and can be watched on cable only with RogersTV Brantford and YourTV Northumberland.
