Fannell scores five to lead Chiefs in Game 5
The Six Nations Chiefs needed a response and Eric Fannell answered the call Friday night.
Fannell scored five times and added three assists to lead the Six Nations Chiefs to a 15-8 win over the Peterborough Lakers in front of over 2,000 fans at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The Lakers now lead the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse final 3-2.
The Chiefs came out of the gate hard with two goals from Fannell and Randy Staats, while Vaughn Harris, Austin Staats, and Lyle Thompson added singles.
Thomas Hoggarth, Ian Llord and Mark Matthews responded for the Lakers.
The Chiefs continued to roll in the second period with three more goals from Fannell, while Joey Cupido and Randy Staats added to the lead. Hoggarth, Shawn Evans, Joe Resetarits, and Kiel Matisz scored for the Lakers.
Cody Jamieson, Austin Staats and Harris tacked on some insurance in the third period, while Hoggarth netted his third of the game.
NOTES: Doug Jamieson stood tall between the Chiefs pipes making 37 stops. Doug Buchan and Matt Vinc shared the goaltending duties for the Lakers and faced 66 shots.
