Chiefs take stranglehold of semifinal
The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs needed to get the offence going, and they did that in a big way Tuesday night.
On the road for Game 4 of their best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse semifinal, Kasey Beirnes and Dhane Smith led the way with three goals each in a 14-3 win over the Brampton Excelsiors.
The Chiefs now lead the series 3-1.
Quick starts have been something that has lacked for the Chiefs the last two games, but Tuesday that wasn't the case. Ryan Benesch, Billy Dee Smith and Dhane Smith scored before the game was eight-minutes-old.
After Chris Corbeil got the Excelsiors on the board, Beirnes and Colin Doyle added to the Chiefs lead.
In the second period, Randy Staats netted a pair of goals, while Jeff Shattler, Beirnes, Dand Dhane Smith added one each.
Connor Daly and Joe Resetarits responded for the home team.
The Chiefs kept rolling in the third period, with Dhane Smith, Jon Sullivan, Beirnes and Stephen Keogh adding to the lead.
Dillon Ward was back between the Chiefs pipes and was at times spectacular making 46 saves. Tyler Carlson took the loss for the Excelsiors in a 24-save effort.
Game 5 of the series is 8pm Thursday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
