Unfortunately for the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs, it was Shawn Evans' show.
The sniper scored seven goals and added seven assists to lead the Lakers to a 18-14 win in Game 2 of the Major Series Lacrosse final.
The Lakers now lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.
Stephen Keogh and randy Staats got the Chiefs off to the start they needed, early in the first period. But Shawn Evans struck twice and Scott Evans added one before Staats tied the game again.
The second period was, to be quite frank, an offensive explosion, with both teams coming together for 18 goals.
Keogh led the Chiefs charge with three goals, while Dhane Smith netted two. Jay Thorimbert, Johnny Powless, and Staats each added one goal.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the Lakers got three goals each from Curtis Dickson and Shawn Evans, with Adam Jones pitching in with two, while Brad Self and Cory Vitarelli added one apiece.
Craig Point inched the Chiefs closer early in the third period, before Shawn Evans, Turner Evans and Zach Currier gave the Lakers all the insurance they needed.
Ryan Benesch and Smith also scored goals for hte Chiefs in the final frame, while Vitarelli and Shawn Evans netted goals down the stretch.
On Friday, the Chiefs look to get back on track when Game 3 of the series returns to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8pm.
OUT WEST: The defending Western Lacrosse Association champion Victoria Shamrocks have gone up 3-0 in their best-of-seven final series with the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
On Wednesday at home, the Shamrocks rode a four-goal first period to a 15-9 victory. To follow that series CLICK HERE
