Lakers hold on for win over Chiefs

It was almost a comeback of epic proportions.
Down 10-4 after two periods, the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs scored nine times in the third period only to lose a close 14-13 decision to the Peterborough Lakers Thursday night in Major Series Lacrosse action.
Dhane Smith again led the Chiefs, scoring three of his five goals during the third-period comeback. Jeff Shattler scored three times in the frame, while Ryan Benesch added two and Stephen Keogh netted one.
Adam Jones scored what was the game-winner, while Cory Vitarelli, Turner Evans and Curtis Dickson added singles in the third period.
The Lakers were all over their guests in the first period, with Chad Culp scoring three times, while Evans netted two and Jones added one.
Vaughn Harris and Smith scored for the Chiefs.
In hte second period, Vitarelli scored twice, while Jones and Culp had one each.
Smith and Benesch responded for the defending Mann Cup champions.
The Chiefs still sit at the top of the MSL standings with an 8-2 record, two points up on the Lakers.
Tuesday, the Chiefs return to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8pm, when they host the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks.
