Chiefs flex offensive muscle

Ryan Benesch got a very hearty welcome from his new Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs teammates Tuesday night.
Twenty minutes before the the Chiefs and Oakville Rock were to face off, the defending Mann Cup champs welcomed the Buffalo Bandits' leading scorer from this season. And three minutes into the game Benesch got on the scoreboard, helping the Chiefs to a 19-2 win over the Rock at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The Chiefs scored seven goals in the first period and added seven more in the second en route to the victory.
Randy Staats led the first period assault with a pair of goals, while Marty Hill,
Benesch, Johnny Powless, Jay Thorimbert and Tom Montour added one each.
In the second period, Craig Point scored two goals, while singles went to Dhane Smith, Benesch, Powless, Staats and Dave Brock.
The goal parade continued in the third period, with Vaughn Harris adding three goals. Benesch and Hill pitched in with one more each.
Local product Stu Martin and Alex Crepinsek scored for the Rock, who are missing a large number of players because of the National Lacrosse League final between the Toronto Rock and Edmonton Rush.
Dillon Ward made his Chiefs debut between the pipes, and was rock-solid, making 34 stops in the win.
The Chiefs are back in action June 9, when they host the Brooklin Redmen at 8pm.
