Balanced Chiefs attack pushes Adanacs to the brink

 

A balanced attack and vicious defence were the catalysts in the Six Nations Chiefs' 13-9 victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs Monday night in Game 3 of the Mann Cup championship series at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

With the win, the Major Series Lacrosse champions hold a commanding 3-0 lead over the Western Lacrosse Association champs in the best-of-seven Canadian Senior A Box Lacrosse Championship.

Shayne Jackson and Andrew Kew got hte Chiefs rolling quickly, before Thomas Semple scored the first of his four goals on the night, and Dylan McIntosh added one. During the last six minutes of the first frame, the Chiefs scored in bunches again. This time it was Kew, Dhane Smith and Lyle Thompson.

 Cody Jamieson extended the lead early in the second period, before Riley Isaacs replied for the visitors from out west. Dhane Smith and Josh Byrne scored back-to-back goals during a two minute span, before Semple struck twice to get the Adanacs within three, with a period to go.

Kean Moon and Semple struck early in the third period to make it a one-goal game, before Ian MacKay and Ryan Smith replied quickly. After Isaacs scored his second goal of the game, Thompson and Jamieson extended the lead. Jalen Chaster gave the Adanacs fans something to cheer about with three and a half minutes to go, but Tyson Bell silenced that with another empty-net goal.

Doug Jamieson got the win for the Chiefs between the pipes, while rookie Andrew Gallant was tagged with the loss despite an at times spectacular effort after replacing Christian DelBianco midway through the first period. 

The Chiefs have a chance to sweep the series and capture their fourth-straight Mann Cup with one more win. Game 4 is Tuesday at 8pm, and the ILA.
