Balanced offence leads Chiefs to Game 1 win over Adanacs
Seven straight goals in the second period by seven different players led the Six Nations Chiefs to a 8-2 victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs Friday night at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, in Game 1 of the Mann Cup championship.
After Andrew Kew and Jalen Chaster exchanged first period goals, Payton Cormier gave teh Western Lacrosse Association champs their first lead of the series.
But then the Chiefs began to heat up.
Lyl;e Thompson, Graeme Hossack, Randy Staats, Tyson Bell, Josh Byrne, Chris Cloutier, and Dhane Smith all scored second period goals during a seven-goal run that put the game on ice.
Despite the score, it was a goaltender's battle. Christian Delbianco and Doug Jamieson were called upon in a big way, with both earning the Player of the Game Awards.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven Mann Cup series resumes Saturday at 7pm at the ILA.
