Byrne leads way in comeback win over Kodiaks
Josh Byrne scored four goals to help the Six Nations Chiefs claw back to a 9-4 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Tuesday night.
Aaron Woods, Shane Halliwell and Alex Marinier got the Kodiaks out to a early third period lead, before Anfrew Kew responded with 10 seconds to go in the frame.
Kieran McKay extended the Kodiaks lead to 4-1 four minutes into the second period.
But that's when the game changed, with the Chiefs scoring eight unanswered, while shutting the door defensively.
Byrne scored a pair in the second period, including teh eventual game winner, while Tyson Bell and Kew helped give the Chiefs their first lead of the game heading into the final 20 minutes.
Byrne added two more in the third period, while Latrell Harris and Travis Longboat added singles.
Laine Hruska played a fantastic game between the pipes for the Kodiaks before being replaced by Jackson Brown. Warren Hill also was solid between the pipes for the Chiefs to record the win.
The Chiefs are back in action next week, when they hit the road to take on the Brampton Excelsiors on June 11 at 8pm.
