Chiefs end regular season with a loss to Kodiaks

The young guns provided the spark to give the Cobourg Kodiaks a 9-7 win over the Six Nations Chiefs Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
In the final regular season game for the two teams before they meet in the Major Series Lacrosse playoffs, the Kodiaks got two goals from Kealan Pilon, Curtis Romanchych, and Jackson Webster, while Riley Curtis, Alex Simmons, and Ryan Haigh added one goal each.
Clay Scanlon was outstanding for the Chiefs, scoring four goals in his debut with the team. Eric Fannell, Dalton Silver and Vaughn Harris added one each.
The Kodiaks got off to a hot start thanks to a pair from Pilon and one from Webster.
Fannell was the only reply.
In the second period, the Kodiaks appeared to keep it rolling with a goal from Simmons, before Scanlon netted a natural hat trick and Harris scoring to give the Chiefs its only lead of the game.
Like they did all night, the Kodiaks had a response, this time by Haigh and Curtis.
Webster then scored his second of the night to open the third period scoring, before Romanchych netted two more to secure the win.
Scanlon and Sulfer scored for the Chiefs.

NOTES: Steve Orleman got the win between the Kodiaks pipes with a 37-save effort. Doug Jamieson took the loss making 41 stops. The Kodiaks improve to 2-10 and will have the fourth seed heading into the playoffs. They will take on the Chiefs who drop to 8-3-1.
