Chiefs drop first of the season in loss to Kodiaks

The Cobourg Kodiaks struck first and never looked back, as Alex Simmons’ hat trick led his team to a 10-8 win over the Six Nations Chiefs Sunday.
Aaron Wood, Ben French and Simmons gave the Kodiaks a first period lead. Joey Cupido and Randy Staats replied.
Riley Curtis, Cam Milligan and Woods kept the Kodiaks ahead, despite the Chiefs pressing to come back. Cupido scored two more times in that second frame, while Vaughn Harris added the other.
Simmons then added two more goals in the third period, including the game-winner, while Brandon Robinson, and Brine Rice netted one each. Cupido scored his fourth of the night, while Mason Kamminga and Cody Jamieson scored one each.
Warren Hill took the loss for the Chiefs, while Steve Orleman earned the win between the Lodi’s pipes.

NOTES: The win gives the Kodiaks its first of the MSL season and now sit at 1-3. It was the Chiefs first loss of the season, which drops their record to 3-1. The Chiefs have another busy week, hosting Brooklin Lacrosse Club Tuesday. They hit the road Thursday against the Peterborough Lakers. Both games are at 8pm. The Kodiaks return to action July 6, when they take on BLC in Whitby.
