Leclair nets winner to give Chiefs win over Lakers

 

Sam Leclair scored his second goal of the game with 1:44 remaining in regulation to give the Six Nations Chiefs a 11-10 victory over the Peterborough Lakers in Major Series Lacrosse action Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Leclair, with an individual effort starting behind the net, beat Lakers goalie Landon Kells gave the Chiefs the win minutes before Turner Evans scored to tie things up. Thomas Hoggarth and Vaughn Harris also exchanged goals early in the third frame.
The Lakers shook off the bus legs and got off to a hot start to the game, with Owen Hiltz and Hoggarth giving their team an early lead with goals 41 seconds apart. But then Jordan Durston and Cody Jamieson tied things up, before the Lakers grabbed a hold of the momentum again thanks to a pair of markers from Jay Thorimbert.
Like he does often, Cody Jamieson lifted the Chiefs with a pair of goals, while Randy Staats added a single during a flurry that lasted three minutes to finish up the first period scoring and giving the Chiefs a one-goal lead.
Eric Fannell owned the second period with a pair of goals, while Austin Staats, and Leclair added one each. Holden Cattoni, Taite Cattoni and Kiel Matisz responded for teh Lakers.
Kells took the loss between the pipes, making 21 stops, while Warren Hill was rock solid for the Chiefs thanks to his 20-save effort.
Now 2-0, the Chiefs are on the road Wednesday at 8pm. They take on the Brooklin Lacrosse Club.
