Chiefs bounce back against Lakers

Powered by a giant-sized first period, the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs exorcised a very large demon Thursday night on the road to beat the Peterborough Lakers 14-9 to grab their first victory of the season against their Major Series Lacrosse rival.
Cody Jamieson and Kyle Jackson caught fire early, each scoring three goals in the first period to pace the Chiefs in the first period, while Eric Fannell netted the first goal of the game.
The Lakers responded with goals from Holden Cattoni, Corey Small and Shawn Evans.
Cattoni and Small tried to get the Lakers back into the game early, before Jamieson scored his fourth goal of hte game midway through the second period. Josh Currier and Tyson Bell then exchanged goals.
In the third period, the Chiefs didn't let up, with Jackson adding two more goals and Jamieson netting one for five goals each on the night. Tyson Bomberry added one goal, as did goalie Doug Jamieson, who scored on the empty net.
Doug Jamieson made a triumphant return from injury, making 42 saves for the win, while his teammates fired 48 at Matt Vinc.
With the win, the Chiefs improve to 7-6-1 and sit in third place in the MSL standings. The Chiefs have two games remaining in the regular season, which will become a dress rehersal for its first-round playoff series against the Oakville Rock. Monday the two teams play in Oakville, before returning to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Tuesday.
Both games are at 8pm.

PLAYOFFS
The Lakers have already clinched first place, and will take on the Brooklin Redmen in one MSL semifinal series, while the Rock and Chiefs will go at it in the other. No times or dates have been determined.
