Buchan shuts door on Chiefs
The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs got back to work after its 14-day break on Tuesday night. Unfortunately Doug Buchan stood in the way.
Buchan turned away 48 shots to lead the Peterborough Lakers to a 7-3 win over the Chiefs.
While Buchan turned away every shot in the first period, Thomas Hoggarth and Holden Cattoni gave the Lakers a lead.
Chad Tutton added to the lead in the second period, before Craig Point finally got the Chiefs on the board thanks to his power-play goal. a minute later, Corey Small responded for the Lakers with a power-play goal of their own, while Turner Evans added another.
In the third period, Point scored his second goal of the game, before Small did the same for the Lakers. Cody Jamieson, who had assists on both Point goals, added one of his own to inch the Chiefs closer to their rivals. But Cattoni's second goal of the game iced things, while Buchan held the Chiefs at bay.
Angus Goodleaf took the loss between the pipes despite a great 49-save effort.
With the loss the Chiefs drop to 4-4-1, with hopes to get back in the win column Thursday on the road, when they head to Peterborough for the back half of the home-and-home set.
