The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs have taken full control of its Major Series Lacrosse championship series with the Peterborough Lakers.
Led by a five goal outburst in the first period, the Chiefs ran to a 9-7 victory over the Lakers Monday night in front of a packed Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
With the win, the Chiefs lead the best-of-seven MSL final 3-1.

After Jeff Shattler and Andrew Suitor exchanged goals in the first five minutes of the game, Cody Jamieson led the assault with a pair of goals, while Craig Point and Tom Montour scored singles.
Roger Vyse added to the lead midway through the second period, before John Grant Jr. struck twice to give the Lakers some life. Minutes later, Vyse netted his second of the period to get the Chiefs back on track.
The Lakers, who would not go away without a fight, got another goal from Grant, while Matt Crough and Chad Culp added one each. But like they did all night, the Chiefs had a response. This time it was Point and Kasey Beirnes.
Grant scored his fourth of the night to round out the scoring.
The Chiefs defence, anchored by Evan Kirk was again rock solid. Kirk made 30 saves for the win, while Matt Vinc had 24 stops in the loss.
The Chiefs have an opportunity to clinch the MSL title Tuesday, when they travel to Peterborough for an 8 p.m. faceoff. If necessary, Game 6 is back at the ILA Friday at 8 p.m.
