Lyle powers Chiefs by Excelsiors
Lyle Thompson powered the Six Nations Chiefs to a 12-5 win over the Brampton Excelsiors, on the road in Major Series Lacrosse action Thursday.
Before Thompson's four-goal performance, Finlay Thomson opened the scoring for the home side. Randy Staats quickly replied before Ryan Smith added to the lead. The final two minutes of the first period was fast and furious, with Mike Triolo and Bowie Horsman scoring 20 seconds apart to give the Excelsiors the lead. But Tyson Bell tied things up with two seconds remaining.
Triolo scored his second goal of the game in the opening stages of the second period, with the man advantage. After that, it was all chiefs. Thompson led the way with a hat trick, while Dhane Smith added a pair, and Josh Byrne netted one.
Thompson scored two more goals in the third period, while Ryan Smith added his second of the game, with Larson Sundown netting the game's final goal. Thomson had the lone Excelsiors reply.
Warren Hill earned the win, while Connor O'Toole took the loss.
The Chiefs are now 8-1 and host the Peterborough Lakers Tuesday at the ILA .
