Chiefs are on Point against Rock

Craig Point is showing off his scoring touch in spades and on Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, he was at it again.
Point again had the hot stick, scoring four goals and two assists, to lead the Chiefs to a 13-8 win over the Oakville Rock.
Point got the goal scoring started like he did in the home opener. After Connor Fields quickly replied, Kyle Jackson and Wayne VanEvery gave the Chiefs another lead. Wesley Berg, Ryan Benesch and Mitch Desnoo then exchanged goals to close out hte first 20 minutes.
In the second period, the two teams took turns at taking runs after Eric Fannell and Point started the scoring early for their respective teams.
Berg and Brett Hickey gave the Rock a lead before VanEvery netted his second goal of the game. But Berg and Hickey struck again to increase the Rock lead.
But then the Chiefs took over.
Point, Vaughn Harris, Dan Dawson, Jackson and Jordan Durston all scored during a five minute run to end the second period and take control of the game.
With Warren Hill and Steve Fryer keeping shooters at bay in the third, Pat Corbett and Point added some insurance late in the game.
Hill was outstanding between the Chiefs' pipes making 50 saves, while his teammates fired 46 at Fryer.
The Chiefs are now 3-0 to start the 2017 Major Series Lacrosse season and go on a four-game road stand beginning Friday in Oakville at 8 p.m. Sunday they are in Coburg, before taking on the Peterborough Lakers June 15 and Rock on June 19.

NOTES: Point now has 10 goals and six assists in three games. He's one point behind Benesch, who has six goals and seven assists. Hickey leads all MSL scorers with 12 goals and eight assists in four games. IL Indoor handed out its three stars for week one. Brandon Miller was named third star, while Benesch was an honourable mention.
