The Oakville Rock have forced a seventh and deciding game against the defending Mann Cup champion Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs in their Major Series Lacrosse semifinal.
After a scoreless first period Monday night at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre, the Rock exploded for six goals in the second period to beat the Chiefs 7-5.
After Brendan Bomberry scored the game's first goal almost nine minutes into the second period, the Rock went on a tear. Dan McCrae, Mitch Desnoo, Wes Berg, Dan Lomas and Brett Hickey scored during a five minute flurry. Dave Brock seemed to stop the bleeding for the Chiefs, but Be
rg scored his second of the period less than a minute later.
The Chiefs showed a ton of heart in the third period and attempted to come back with goals from Dhane Smith, Kyle Jackson and Owen Hill. But it was too little too late, with Lomas scoring his second of the game to put the game out of reach with five minutes to go.
Dillon Ward and Nick Rose went at it again between the pipes. Ward made 34 saves for the Chiefs, while rose made 39 stops for the win.
Game 7 is Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8 p.m.
