Late surge can't help Chiefs
It was too little, too late for the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs Monday night.
Despite an eight-goal outburst in the third period, the Chiefs couldn't come all the way back as the Oakville Rock came away with a 13-11 win at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.
After the teams exchanged goals in the first period, the Rock rode the momentum of a 5-1 second period run on to the victory.
Patrick Corbett and Jordan MacIntosh led the charge for the Rock, scoring three goals each. Mike Mawdsley, Shayne Adams, Brendan Thenhaus, Alex Crepinsek, Stephan Leblanc, Ethan O'Connor, and Damon Edwards pitched in with singles.
Stephen Keogh led the Chiefs with four goals, while Craig Point and Dean Hill each scored three. Randy Staats pitched in with a goal and one assist.
Toronto Rock teammates Brandon Miller and Nick Rose went head-to-head between the pipes. Rose won the battle making 32 saves, while Miller made his first start for the Chiefs making 28 stops.
The Chiefs are back in action Thursday, when they go on the road to take on the Excelsiors at 8 p.m.
