Lakers earn home-and-home split with Chiefs
The rivalry
between the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs and the Peterborough Lakers is in full
flight thanks to a home-and-home set this week.
After the
Chiefs got the better of their rivals on the road Thursday, the Lakers returned
the favour at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Saturday, winning 9-7.
Josh Gillam
led the Lakers with two goals and two assists, while Shawn Evans scored once
and had three helpers.
Mark
Steenhuis added three assists, while Scott Evans scored a pair of goals, with Brock
Sorensen, John Grant, Aaron Wilson, and Bradd Self all scored one goal.
Jeff
Shattler again led the Chiefs with two goals and two assists, while Cody
Jamieson had two goals and one helper.
Craig
Point, Billy Dee Smith, and Kasey Beirnes all scored one goal.
With the
loss, the Chiefs drop to 6-5 on the season, while the Lakers creep closer to
them thanks to its 4-5 record,
The Chiefs
are back in action Thursday, when they take on the Brampton Excelsiors on the
road, before returning to the ILA Saturday, when they host the
Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks at 7 p.m.
