Chiefs push Lakers to the brink
A four-goal first period gave the Six Nations Chiefs the lead they needed to give them a 9-4 win over the Peterborough Lakers Thursday in Game 3 of the Major Series Lacrosse final at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Dhane Smith led the offence with three goals and two assists, while Josh Byrne scored a goal and two assists. Warren Hill was rock solid between the pipes making 48 saves for the win.
Smith kicked the game off with a pair of goals, with Ian MacKay adding to the first-period lead. Joe Resetarits and Braedon Saris responded midway through the frame, before Ryan Smith scored late.
Byrne, Theede and MacKay added to the lead in the second period, while Dhane Smith and Tyson Bell added to the cause in the third period. Holden Cattoni and Brad McCulley scored for the Lakers.
With the win, the Chiefs now lead the best-of-seven MSL final 3-0. Game 4 is in Peterborough Saturday at 7pm.
