Staats, Thompson lead the way over Kodiaks

Austin Staats scored four goals and two assists, while Lyle Thompson added a hat trick and two helpers to lead the Six Nations Chiefs to a 12-4 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks Sunday evening.

Cody Jamieson, Austin Staats, and Tyson Bell got things going for the Chiefs early in the first period. Justin Sykes replied for the home team, before Lyle Thompson and Brendan Bomberry added to the Chiefs lead.

Nathan Grenon and Aaron Woods struck early in the second period for the Kodiaks to inch closer. But the Chiefs pulled ahead again thanks to Bell, Travis Longboat, and a pair from Austin Staats.

Lyle Thompson scored two more in the third period, with Austin Staats notching his fourth of the night. Brock Haley responded for the Kodiaks.
