Chiefs win at home to tie semifinal 1-1

Craig Point's heavy shot is finding the mark, which is a good thing for the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs.
On Saturday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, Point rifled in a hat trick and added one assist, to lead the Chiefs to a 9-4 win over the Brooklin Redmen.
With the win, the Chiefs tie the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse semifinal 1-1.
Point opened the scoring early in the first period, before Mark Mathews and Austin Shanks gave the Redmen its first lead of the game.
But the Chiefs quickly rebounded, with Dhane Smith and Jeremy Thompson scoring, with Shanks netting his second of hte game to tie things up to end the frame.
But then the Chiefs took over.
Point opened the scoring again, with Vaughn Harris, Cody Jamieson, Dave Brock and Ryan Benesch adding singles to give the Chiefs a lead they would not give up heading into the final period.
Shanks scored his third goal of the game, before Point did the same, when he scored on an empty-netter.
Dillon Ward was tough to beat Saturday, making 36 saves to go along with his two assists, while Mike Poulin made 29 stops for the Redmen.
The MSL semifinal is back in Whitby Monday, with Game 4 back at the ILA Wednesday. Both games are at 8 p.m.
