Chiefs complete home-and-home sweep of Lakers

It was billed as a heavyweight battle, and in the end the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs passed the test.
The Chiefs got two goals and four assists from Dhane Smith, while Ryan Benesch added six helpers in a 11-9 win over the Peterborough Lakers Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The win extends the Chiefs winning streak to seven games as they improve to a Major Series Lacrosse leading 7-1 record.

Marty Hill and Johnny Powless scored for the Chiefs in the first period, while Shawn Evans and Cory Vitarelli responded.
Craig Point gave the Chiefs its first lead of the game,
early in the second period, before Turner Evans and Curtis Dickson again regained things for the Lakers. But Powless and Point scored less than a minute apart midway through the frame to give the Chiefs a lead they wouldn't give up.
Smith scored a pair of third-period goals to lead a six goal assault, while Dave Brock, Jon Sullivan, Kasey Beirnes and Jeff Shattler added to the lead.
Scott Evans, Dickson, Matt Crough, Nick Weiss and Scott Evans replied for the Lakers.
Despite the goal parade in the third period, Evan Kirk and Dillon Ward were fantastic in net for their respective teams. Kirk was credited with the loss in a 32-save effort, while Ward made 42 stops for the win.
The Chiefs are back in action Wednesday at 8pm, when they travel to Brooklin, to take on the  Redmen. The defending Mann Cup champions return home Tuesday, when they host the Redmen at the ILA at 8pm.
