Lakers even MSL final up 1-1 at home


After Ryan Lanchbury tied things up midway through the third period, Dustyn Birkhof netted the winner with just over four minutes to play in regulation, to give the Peterborough Lakers a 9-8 win over the Six Nations Chiefs Thursday night at home.

With the win, the Major Series Lacrosse final is now tied at 1-1.

 Both teams scored in bunches in the first period. Shayne Jackson and Chris Cloutier each scored a pair of goals to lead the way, while Cody Jamieson and Lyle Thompson added one each. Taite Cattoni responded with a pair of goals, while Rob Hellyer and Colton Armitage netted one apiece.

 The Lakers added two more goals early in the second period thanks to a pair of goals from Braedon Saris. Jackson and Thompson peplied, before Hellyer netted another late in teh frame to make it a one goal game heading into the third period to set up teh Laker comeback.

Warren Hill made 39 stops, while Nick Rose also made 39 shots to earn the win.

Game 3 of the best-of-seven MSL final resumes Sunday at 7pm at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
