Chiefs put on a show for large crowd

The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs put on a display for the over 1,100 fans in attendance at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Tuesday.
After a tight first period, the defending Mann Cup champions put the foot on the pedal scoring 10 times in the second period to beat the Coburg Kodiaks 16-7.
Jordan Durston, Dhane Smith and Vaughn Harris scored in teh first period, while Joey Cupido responded for the Kodiaks.
The Chiefs poured it on in the second period with Layne Smith scoring three times and Randy Staats adding two. Durston, Brendan Bomberry, Ryan Benesch, Craig Point, and Shane Simpson all scored once.
Chris Cloutier responded three times for the Kodiaks and Cupido added one.
In the third period, Cupido and Cloutier provided the offence again for the Kodiaks after Vaughn Harris, Staats and Point added to the Chiefs lead.
Brandon Miller was solid when called upon, making 34 saves.
The Chiefs improve to 13-1-1 and are currently one point ahead of the Peterborough Lakers for the Major Series Lacrosse lead.
With three games to go in the regular season, the Chiefs travel to Coburg Sunday, before hosting the Lakers in a showdown for top spot Tuesday at 8 p.m.

NOTES: It was Brandon Montour Night at the ILA. The young NHLer was on hand to sign autographs and did the ceremonial faceoff. It was also NAIG Night, with all athletes from the North American Indigenous Games admitted for free, it was a great atmosphere at the ILA.
