Complete effort gives Chiefs a win over Redmen

It is very safe to say it was the most comprehensive win of the Major Series Lacrosse season, thus far, for the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs.
Dillon Ward provided rock-solid goaltending, the defence was its nasty self and the offence ran on all cylinders in a 9-5 win over the Brooklin Redmen Tuesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
Ryan Benesch scored two goals and four assists, Jordan Durston had a five-point night with one goal, and Kyle Jackson scored the hat trick and added a helper to lead the offence.
Jackson gave the Chiefs the jolt they needed scoring the first two goals of the game three minutes apart in the opening five minutes. Reilly O'Connor responded for the Redmen on the powerplay, before Vaughn Harris and Craig Point added to the lead.
In the second period, the Redmen grabbed a little momentum with goals from Dan Lintner and Kyle Whitlow. But Benesch netted a pair of goals, while Point and Durston added singles to increase the Chiefs lead.
Lintner and O'Connor showed why they are two of the top scorers in MSL adding one more each before Jackson completed the hat trick late in the game.
Ward was fantastic when called upon for the Chiefs making 31 saves, while Zach Higgins was spectacular at times down at the other end. The Redmen goalie made 53 stops in a 62-shot barrage.
The Chiefs are now 7-1 and sit alone at the top of the MSL standings. After a busy three-game stretch, the Chiefs return to the ILA next Tuesday, when they host the Brampton Excelsiors at 8 p.m.

NOTES: The MSL three stars of week 3 was dominated by the Peterborough Lakers and Redmen. O'Connor was named first star, while the Lakers' Kyle Buchanan and Robert Hope were the second and third. Among the
list of honourable mentions were Ward, Point and Jake Crans.
