Chiefs to protect Randy Staats

With so much talent in the area, Six Nations Chiefs general manager Duane Jacobs has some tough decisions.
The defending Major Series Lacrosse and Mann Cup champs are eligible to protect two graduating juniors from junior A and or junior B, when the league draft comes along. Jacobs and the Chiefs' brain trust have decided to protect Six Nations Arrows star Randy Staats.
A second player will be named at a later date.
"Randy will step right into our lineup," Jacobs said.
Staats, who is now in his first year at Syracuse University after playing for Onondaga Community College, scored 36 goals and 35 assists in 12 games for the Arrows last summer. In the playoffs, Staats continued his hot scoring ways, netting 14 goals and 30 assists, to help the Arrows get to the Ontario Junior A Lacrose League final, where they were beat by the eventual Minto Cup champions, Whitby Warriors.
At OCC last year, Staats was named National Junior College Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Year, as he helped Lazers win a fifth-straight national championship.
