Chiefs come from behind to beat BLC

The Six Nations Chiefs have made a habit of coming from behind, and on Tuesday at the MSL Classic, they did it in dramatic fashion.

Nonkon Thompson scored his third goal of the game and second of the quarter with 33 seconds left in regulation as the Chiefs beat the previously unbeaten brooklin Lacrosse Club 15-14 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.

Brendan Bomberry scored his third goal of the night and second of the fourth quarter to tie things up with 45 seconds left to go, while Kedoh Hill helped lead the seven goal final frame with a pair of his four goals on the night. Tehoka Nanticoke started the fourth quarter charge, responding to four quick BLC goals by Connoer Kearnan’s pair, and singles from Ty Thompson and Ryan Keanan to start the fourth quarter.

Keanan had a big first quarter, scoring three, while Kearnan added a pair. Nonkon Thompson and Tyler Brown replied for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs bounced back in the second quarter thanks to Bomberry, Sam LeClair, Deylan Hill and Nanticoke. Ty Thompson scored the lone BLC goal.

Hill’s first of two goals in the third quarter was the only time the Chiefs had fought all the way back to tie BLC until the end of the game. Zack Deaken and Keenan took the lead back for Brooklin, before Hill’s second of the quarter got the Chiefs to within a goal.

The Chiefs are now 3-3 at the MSL Classic and play Owen Sound Wednesday. BLC drops to 5-1 and takes on Owen Sound on August 25. Both games are at 8pm. You can reserve your tickets by CLICKING HERE. The game will also be on JVI Sports Network.
