Chiefs land Lyle Thompson and Brownell

The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs wanted to make a splash before the Major Series Lacrosse season begins in under two weeks, and that's exactly what they did, landing one of the biggest fish in the lacrosse waters.
The Chiefs bulk up
its lineup with Lyle Thompson, Kevin Brownell, and the rights to Miles Thompson in a deal with the Brooklin Lacrosse Club. In return, Brooklin receives the Chiefs' first-round picks in 2020, 2021, and 2022, a third-round selection in 2020 (originally Cobourg's), a second- and third-round choice in the 2022 MSL draft, as well as the rights to Dylan Riley.
There is also a conditional second-round pick in 2023 should Miles Thompson sign this season or next.
"We're ecstatic to have Lyle and Kevin on our roster," Chiefs president Duane Jacobs said. "Lyle, as we all know, is world class. It's going to be exciting to watch him in a Chiefs uniform."
Thompson had his second-best season as a pro this winter with the National Lacrosse League's Georgia Swarm with 43 goals and 62 assists for 105 points. It was the second time he hit the 100 point mark. The other time was in 2017 when he captured the NLL Most Valuable Player Award thanks to his 116 points.
Brownell is currently playing for the NLL championship with the Buffalo Bandits. This was his seventh season in the NLL, all with the Bandits. As a transition player, he scored three goals and 11 assists in the regular season.
"We really like Kevin," Jacobs said. "He's had a really good season in Buffalo. There's a lot of familiarity with some of the players and our coaching staff. We really think he will be a great fit."
The Chiefs begin its quest for the MSL title and Mann Cup on Tuesday May 28, when they host the Oakville Rock at 8 p.m., at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
